For Artists

I’m not a company. I’m one person who collects glass and believes the people who make it deserve a better deal than this industry usually gives them. That is the reason this shop exists.

Proper Attribution

If an artist designed a piece decades ago but someone else received the credit, I will honor the artist’s account and attribute the work accordingly.

This is one of the main reasons I accepted Peter Holmes’ offer to become a dealer. Peter’s experience at Caithness Glass includes many pieces for which he received partial credit or no credit, despite creating the physical prototypes from which the commercial designs developed.

Proper attribution cannot undo what happened, but it can prevent the same error from continuing.

Wholesale

Artists establish the wholesale price for their work and are paid upfront. They do not have to wait for a piece to sell before receiving payment.

The shop’s customer-facing markup is capped at 25%. This protects the value assigned by the artist, keeps the dealer’s profit from overtaking the artist’s contribution, and gives customers access to new work at a price that more closely reflects the work itself.

Artist Consignment

Artists may place work with the shop on consignment.

When a consigned piece sells, the artist receives 75% of the final sale price and the shop retains 25%.

The shop handles photography, listing, marketing, payment processing, packing, and shipping.

Resale Commission

Artists represented by the shop receive a 10% commission whenever one of their pre-owned or resale pieces is sold through the site, even though they were already paid when the work was originally sold.

As far as I know, no other dealer in glass or the broader art market has created an ongoing resale commission of this kind.

Merchandise

Artists receive a 10% commission on every merchandise sale featuring their name or work.

I cover the design and production costs, and nothing is produced or sold without the artist’s approval.

Collaborations and Seasonal Editions

The shop is open to collaborations, seasonal releases, and limited editions with artists actively working with the site.

The factory days may be over, but there is no reason artists cannot still create something in the spirit of the Perthshire Annual Collections or Holiday Editions.

The structure and profit split for each project will be agreed upon fairly in advance.
